You can now do a university course in being a hipster
IT’S TOUGH. EVERYONE looks like a hipster these days. So how do you break through the fakers and the liars to find the real, hipster truth?
You take a college course.
Students at Tufts University in Massachusetts will have the opportunity to enrol in an unconventional new course named ‘Demystifying the Hipster’.
The course will examine films, music, books and other aspects of the ‘hipster lifestyle’ to determine what a hipster actually is. So maybe, in a few years’ time it’ll turn out you were right about your fixie-riding, vinyl-obsessed roommate all along.
According to Professor Jackie O’Dell, it’s a fun course in which students will be asking “whether or not they are hipsters.”
“They’ll be creating an archive of texts or videos or films or songs that they think count as hipster texts,” she told New England Cable News.
At the end of it, are you qualified to point your finger and shout “HIPSTER!” at anyone you deem to be a hipster? Sure we do that already.
